Many sit on the east side along E Racine St, Deerfield Dr and Wright Rd, or in the Kennedy Rd industrial area.

Most of central Janesville, including downtown and the riverfront, sits inside the Class D airspace of Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport (JVL), about 3 miles southwest of the city. Its tower operates 0600-2100 daily. The FAA facility map shows a 400 ft LAANC ceiling over downtown, so we request LAANC authorization before any flight there. Our point checks found:

• Town Square, Palmer Park and the Lincoln-Tallman House area inside the Class D at 400 ft
• Rotary Botanical Gardens inside at a lower 200 ft grid
• A 0 ft grid on the south side toward the airport, meaning no automatic approval
• Riverside Park and the Milton Ave/I-90 area outside surface-level controlled airspace

No Janesville stadium triggers the FAA's standing sporting-event TFR. If you fly here yourself, check the FAA B4UFLY app, LAANC and any TFRs before each flight.

The City of Janesville requires a Special Event Permit, with proof of insurance, for any special event on public property. The Recreation Division at City Hall handles it. We didn't find a published permit or fee for small commercial shoots in city parks, so we confirm with the city before booking one. Yes, with FAA authorization. Downtown sits inside JVL's Class D, where the facility map allows LAANC approvals up to 400 ft, and we file a request before each downtown flight. On the south side near the airport the grid drops to 0 ft, which means extra coordination and more lead time. North-side spots such as Riverside Park checked outside the Class D.
